The founder of Best of Both Worlds, Xavier Harvey, discovered early on in his education and career that the modalities he was trained in had little or no effect on some of the presenting ailments or dysfunctions that he encountered. He was very limited in his ability to assess outside of those modalities what was causing these lesions (energetic or physical pathological changes in the tissue). This set him on a path to become the most effective body worker for his clients. With all this experience he brings to you Best of Both Worlds, where you are not put you in a box, because what causing one person's shoulder pain may not be what causes your shoulder pain. Best of Both Worlds assesses and treats each person individually to discover what the underlying cause of your ailment or dysfunction is and then applying any one or all of the modalities listed below that deal with your issues. This realization sparked him to study and become certified in almost every modality underneath the sun, including: Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage), Shiatsu (Japanese Bodywork), Qi Gong Massage (Energy Bodywork), Thai Massage (Thai Bodywork), Swedish Massage (Therapeutic Massage), Deep Tissue Massage (Not about deep pressure, but rather muscle specificity), Reflexology (Foot and Hand), Advanced Myofascial Therapy (Structural realignment methods through connective tissue called fascia), CranioSacral Therapy (Accessing and working with cranial, Dural tube, and/or nervous system lesions), Total Body Balancing (Bodywork method that acts as a template to assess and apply any bodywork modality to balance the body front-to-back, left-to-right, and top-to bottom), Visceral Manipulation (Assessing and working on organ dysfunction), Muscle Energy Technique (Advanced Soft Tissue Techniques that aid in Joint Mobilization), Positional Release Technique (Advanced Soft Tissue Techniques that deal with Protective Muscle Spasms), Lymphatic Drainage (Dealing with swelling and/or fluid accumulation in the extracellular spaces), Hot and Cold Stone massage, Rain Drop Therapy (Using Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils to bring the body back into alignment creating homeostasis and unlock it's innate healing ability), Auricular Therapy (Ear Reflexology), Orthopedic Assessment (Assessing Soft Tissue and Joint Issues), Nerve Mobilization (Freeing Nerve Entrapments), Cupping and Gua Sha (Advanced Asian Techniques designed to release the "Chi"). Advanced certifications include: Scoliosis, Whiplash, Fibromyalgia, Sciatica and Disk Issues, TMJ and Headaches. Adding even another layer, Xavier has been committed to raising the educational level and standard for Massage Therapists in the state of New Jersey by teaching at Our Lady of Lourdes Institute for Holistic Studies since 2006. He teaches such classes as: Pathology for Massage Therapists, Deep Tissue, Introduction to Tui Na Hand Techniques, Introduction to Thai Massage, Introduction to Tai Chi, Sports Massage I and II, a class that he created which is a bodywork blend called Somatic Balancing; and has taught Business for Massage Therapists and Pathology for Reflexologists. He has also been a National Association of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, still currently teaches Tai Chi and Wing Chun, and practices yoga.
